In this episode, Peter and Frank participate in the #AllPurpleAllTheTime challenge, a gauntlet tossed at our feet by the good fellows of Arkham Chronicle. We're joined by the Mythos Busters and the team is rounded out by The Whisperer in Darkness, aka the Man from Leng, and it's a pretty simple mission: we each have to build a deck for a mystic investigator, and they'll make up an all purple investigative team!
We drew... Akachi Onyele, so tune in as we discuss her strengths and weaknesses and build a deck for her. To see our final deck, take a look here: https://arkhamdb.com/decklist/view/4092/allpurpleallthetime-akachi-onyele-1.0.

Episode 41: Think on your Feet I
Join Frank for a new type of Drawn to the Flame episode: Think on your Feet, a live play series. In this episode, very much the pilot, he takes a Roland deck through a little campaign called... The Night of the Zealot. Will the zealot get enough sleep? What happens when morning breaks?
This is a new style of episode for Drawn to the Flame, and we'd be delighted to hear what you think of it. We wanted to dive straight in, so there isn't much introduction and Frank cracks on. We wanted it to sound real - as it is - so there's been minimal editing, mainly just shortening up long pauses and removing the sounds of traffic from outside. You can hear the token bag being shaken and cards being shuffled, and that's all intentional. It's a live play-through!
Frank chose a good stuff Roland deck he'd cooked up - no frills, no tricks - to try out for this style of episode. Here's the list: https://arkhamdb.com/deck/view/93235 You can click through that list to the future iterations, but maybe do that when you hear the musical cue.
What else? Time stamps: scenario 1 begins at 1 minute; scenario 2 begins at 25 minutes; scenario 3 begins at 52 minutes. ENJOY! Merry Christmas! Oh and if you like this sort of episode and have read this far... tell Frank whom he should play as next!

Episode 40: Frank's First Look at A Phantom of Truth
Join Frank for another first look, this time at the player cards of A Phantom of Truth, the third mythos pack in the Path to Carcosa cycle. There is lots of oohing and ahhing, and some personal details from your boy Frank... but more importantly: what terror cards are out there? What are relics? And is salt on a slug really a cheap shot?
The card discussion itself starts almost exactly at 3 minutes.

Episode 39: Minh Thi Phan
She trained as a secretary and then worked as a personal assistant - and she is exceptional at helping others. She's skilful and a born survivor, able to live on her wits. And her analytical mind is obsessed with decoding the secrets of a very dangerous play: The King in Yellow. That's right, this episode is all about Arkham Horror's newest seeker, the secretary Minh Thi Phan. Join Peter and Frank as they discuss her potencies and deficiencies.
At twenty minutes or so, Frank talks about not being able to investigate if there are no clues around. Of course what he means is: you can still investigate, but you won't get a clue for investigating, which is a shame if you're using an investigation as the test to add six icons to to clear The King in Yellow.

Join Peter and Frank for the thirty-eighth episode of Drawn to the Flame, in which they discuss the midway point of the Path to Carcosa cycle. After a theatre of the dead, a manic dinner party, a race through the Historical Society of Arkham and now a visit to a mental institution, this campaign has been filled with wonders and terrors. And yet, every so often, you find yourself tapping out because you may be a beast at Arkham Horror, but the encounter deck has your number. Join Peter and Frank in this episode of Drawn to the Flame as they look at the encounter deck, with a particular eye on the keywords of cards most commonly found in that deck. What does surge do? In this episode, join Frank and Peter in their quest to be continually helpful, this time by aiding you in improving your play. As a sort of sequel to episode 16, which was all about deckbuilding, this episode is a discussion filled with tips and tricks to go from being mostly a grisly mess on the ground, destroyed by the horrors formed of dark rites and foul incantations, to only slightly bloodied and still pretty sane... which is an improvement, right? How should you spend those actions? What's better, a card or a resource? And how does prey work again? All this in the ep. Plus white-furred doom creatures.

Episode 24: Wendy Adams
She's got no one to rely on but herself (... and maybe a stray cat or two). Carrying her mother's amulet wherever she goes, she's doing her best to stave off the encroaching terrors and roaming creatures in Arkham, Massachusetts, and beyond. To look at her, she's but a child, yet she's not entirely unprepared for combating the dark things of the mythos, as there's something of the trickster to her, too: yes, this episode of Drawn to the Flame is all about the wonderful urchin Wendy Adams.
Join Peter and Frank in this investigator-specific episode of Drawn to the Flame, in which they look at Wendy Adams, the game's first survivor, and talk about her strengths, weaknesses and the tricks up her sleeve.
SPOILER POLICY: The player cards of the most recent pack (The Path to Carcosa) are fair game (but we don't discuss them). We try to stay one pack behind in terms of encounter card spoilers (Lost in Time and Space - but we don't discuss it, either).

Episode 23: What's the Deal with the King in Yellow?
Join Frank and Peter for this, episode 23 of Drawn to the Flame. In anticipation of the upcoming release of Arkham Horror's second deluxe expansion, The Path to Carcosa, yours hosts look at Robert W Chambers' short-story collection The King in Yellow, particularly the stories The Repairer of Reputations, The Mask, In the Court of the Dragon and The Yellow Sign.
Who was Hastur? Where is Lake Hali? And who - or what - is the Pallid Mask? In addition to looking at the motifs and motivations of the stories themselves, Peter and Frank consider how such weird and supernatural elements might be implemented in the card game.
SPOILER POLICY: The player cards of the most recent mythos pack (Lost in Time and Space) are fair game. We try to stay one pack behind in terms of encounter card spoilers (Where Doom Awaits). Currently, as the Dunwich Legacy cycle has come to an end, we're in limbo. In this episode, we don't really discuss cards that much...

Episode 22: Face to Face with Azathoth
SPOILER POLICY: This is a special episode and we will be talking about the entirety of the Dunwich Cycle in some depth. Please avoid if you haven't yet finished the cycle!
There are some secrets that once known will shatter our feeble consciousness, arcane rites and hidden mysteries so fell and terrible that to behold them is to fray the limits of one's sanity.
There are some secrets that once known will shatter our feeble consciousness, arcane rites and hidden mysteries so fell and terrible that to behold them is to fray the limits of one's sanity.
In Episode 22 of Drawn to the Flame, join Peter and Frank as they come face to face with a keeper of such secrets: Matthew Newman, lead developer of Arkham Horror: The Card Game. To celebrate the end of the Dunwich Legacy cycle, Arkham's first full campaign, Matt's joining the podcast to talk about player cards and encounter design in the Dunwich Legacy. It's a bumper episode as Peter and Frank get into the detail of each class's strengths, the challenges of the eight-scenario campaign, as well as glancing ahead to dread encounters on the horizon.
Join us very soon for a special mini episode before we start looking ahead to Path to Carcosa next time!

Episode 21: A look back at the Dunwich Legacy
SPOILER POLICY: We're talking about player cards up to and including Lost in Time and Space mythos pack. We'll skirt around encounter cards included in that pack, but talk freely about encounter cards from the core set up to Where Doom Awaits.
In this, episode 21 of Drawn to the Flame, a podcast for fans of Arkham Horror: The Card game, join Peter and Frank as they discuss the conclusion of the Dunwich Legacy cycle. They look back at the four traits 'spell', 'weapon', 'ally' and 'talent' and see what new cards have been added to those, as well as pondering their favourite cards and moments of the cycle. The duo almost get through a whole episode without screwing up.
We're nearly done with the Dunwich Legacy now, aside from (hopefully!) a special treat next time...!

SPOILER POLICY: we'll happily discuss player cards up to and including the Lost in Time and Space mythos pack. We'll skirt around encounter cards included in that pack, but talk freely about encounter cards from the core set up to Where Doom Awaits.
In this episode, it's a look at the player cards from Lost in Time and Space, which is how you may feel when your reality comes unhinged and you try to make sense of what the heck it is you're listening to... As with all first look episodes, this episode isn't meant to be a definitive review, just a glance at the madness that waits once we decipher reality...

Episode 19: The Story So Far II (Storier Farer?)
SPOILER WARNING SPOILER WARNING All packs up to *Where Doom Awaits* mythos pack discussed! The full encounter set of Where Doom Awaits discussed! SPOILER WARNING ENDS
Join Peter and Frank for episode 19 of Drawn to the Flame. This is another spoiler-policy-breaking episode in which your hosts settle down with a cup of tea and a large dose of trepidation to discuss everything in the Dunwich Legacy that's brought their investigators to this point, everything they must face in Where Doom Awaits, and what may be lurking in the final, as-yet-unreleased scenario of the Dunwich Legacy cycle, Lost in Time and Space. This episode is a conversational, "watercooler" discussion, taking in the larger themes and story of the campaign, as well as sharing some of the hosts' favourite / least favourite moments. (Shoggoth, anyone?)
In addition, if you want to contact us, there are all the details below, and in this episode we've even asked you to do that. As the kids say: hit us up! (Do they say that? Maybe!)

Episode 18: Guidance from a Research Librarian
There are signs and sigils etched upon the ground at your feet, and they comprise a rough, hastily marked circle... a circle in which you stand captive. A... magic circle.
In this episode, Frank and Peter are trapped inside a magic circle and they've enlisted the help of wayward research librarian John to help them get free. Join them as they talk to John about play and games, about how Arkham Horror messes with the commonly accepted expectations in a card game, and hear how Frank forced John to play Eldritch Horror repeatedly.
SPOILER POLICY: we'll happily discuss player cards up to and including the Where Doom Awaits mythos pack. We'll skirt around encounter cards included in that pack, but talk freely about encounter cards from the core set up to Undimensioned & Unseen. Note: we don't get too specific about scenarios this episode.

Episode 17: Frank's First Look at Where Doom Awaits
WARNING: Discussion of Where Doom Awaits player cards in this episode!
SPOILER POLICY: we'll happily discuss player cards up to and including the Where Doom Awaits mythos pack. We'll skirt around encounter cards included in that pack, but talk freely about encounter cards from the core set up to Undimensioned & Unseen.
In this episode, Frank looks at the player cards from Where Doom Awaits, which feels pretty grim and depressing on this, British election day, aka where doom awaits... The pack came out on 8th June, and Frank gives his first impressions of the player cards. As with all first look episodes, this episode isn't meant to be a definitive review, just Frank, with his gifts from the homunculi and an ace in the hole trying not to think of how he's had worse and instead trying to come to some conclusions.

Episode 16: Approaches to Deckbuilding
You can throw thirty cards together smartly enough, but you want to up your deckbuilding game, from simply knowing the rules that govern decks in Arkham Horror all the way to making scintillating creations that fizz with ingenuity and versatility. How?
In this, the sixteenth episode of Drawn to the Flame, join Peter and Frank as they get stuck into the tricksy topic of deckbuilding. This episode isn't meant purely as a beginner's guide to deckbuilding. Instead, it's packed with approaches to have in mind when wrestling with your cards on your living room floor and tips for how to evaluate the choices you've made and enhance your deckbuilding expertise. As ever, this episode isn't meant to be exhaustive, just Frank and Peter's tuppence on the subject.
SPOILER POLICY: we'll happily discuss player cards up to and including the Undimensioned & Unseen mythos pack. We'll skirt around encounter cards included in that pack, but talk freely about encounter cards up to Blood on the Altar. NOTE: in this episode we don't talk about encounter cards much at all.

Episode 15: Talents
You always pack bandages. You're a dab hand at lightening someone's pockets. You do your best work alone. You can read a map really really well. You seek forbidden secrets. You adapt to situations around you.... You are: talented.
In this, the fifteenth episode of Drawn to the Flame, join Peter and Frank as they discuss another trait in Arkham Horror. In earlier episodes we've covered weapons, allies and spells, and now we turn to talents to discern what makes an investigator talented, what place talents have in the game and whether we could all use a bit more scavenging in our lives.

SPOILER POLICY: we'll happily discuss player cards up to and including the Undimensioned & Unseen mythos pack. We'll skirt around encounter cards included in that pack, but talk freely about encounter cards from the core set up to Blood on the Altar.
In this episode, Frank looks at the player cards from Undimensioned & Unseen, which is incredibly hard to type repeatedly, released 11 May, and gives his first impressions. This episode isn't meant to be a definitive review, just Frank the dark horse with his inquiring mind and quick thinking trying to come to some conclusions. Episode 13: Jenny Barnes
A life of luxury, furnished by material wealth and a resourceful spirit had Jenny Barnes want for nothing. Like so many of her class and means, she travelled to Europe to sample the finest delights of the Old World - its culture, heritage, cuisine and charms... until word reached her: her beloved sister was missing.
So Jenny Barnes finds herself back in Arkham, relying on her wits (and a little bit on her wealth). In this episode of Drawn to the Flame, Frank and Peter discuss this tough cookie of an investigator. How does she handle the dangers of Arkham Horror? What talents does her roguish nature provide? And will she ever find Izzie?
SPOILER POLICY: we'll happily discuss player cards up to and including the Blood on the Altar mythos pack. We'll skirt around encounter cards included in that pack, but talk freely about encounter cards up to Essex County Express. NOTE: this episode was recorded before Blood on the Altar was released. We discuss some BotA cards at the end of the episode.

Episode 11: Agnes Baker
She leads a peaceable life, waiting tables and getting by - at least she used to. But lately her dreams have spoken to her of times long past and places distant and terrible to behold. In that Hyperborean world, in those visions, she is no mere waitress, but a sorceress of fey and dreadful power. And now she feels that power stir within her blood...
Yep, that's right, ladies and gents, she's Agnes Baker, everyone's favourite waitress/witch. In this episode of Drawn to the Flame, Frank and Peter discusses this mysterious and deadly mystic. What does she do? How does she do it? And should she ever delve too deep?
SPOILER POLICY: we'll happily discuss player cards up to and including the Blood on the Altar mythos pack. We'll skirt around encounter cards included in that pack, but talk freely about encounter cards up to Essex County Express.

Esoteric Devices I: Adaptable & Delve Too Deep
In this episode of Drawn to the Flame, Peter and Frank start a new occasional series on the podcast: the close consideration of just a couple of player cards in Arkham Horror: The Card Game. Working title for these sorts of episodes is 'Esoteric Devices' and they're a chance for us to consider some of the mechanics and structuring of the game in greater detail, as well as the ways that particular cards can warp our expectations of how a card game works.

Episode 7: Frank's First Look at Essex County Express
SPOILER WARNING: Drawn to the Flame's spoiler policy states that player cards from the most recently released mythos pack are fair game for discussion, and today, Thursday 16th March, was the release date of the second pack in the Dunwich Legacy cycle, the Essex County Express. SPOILER WARNING
So Frank's not really breaking the policy, but there may be players out there who want to wait until they have the pack in their hands, as Frank has done, before looking at the player cards. If you're one of them, maybe don't listen. Otherwise, jump in and hear Frank's first impressions of cards in his hands.

If you've taken the time to send us feedback on reddit, discord, the ffg forums, by text message or email: thank you. There are contact details at the end of episode 2 to reach us.
